#SisterSaturday-Divine Mercy Sunday Message

#Sister Saturday is back with this special “edition” on Divine Mercy Sunday, Saint Faustina, and our own Sister Faustina!  Future posts will remain at their regularly scheduled time on Saturday mornings =)

The devotion to Divine Mercy has spread far and wide since Our Lord first appeared to Saint Faustina on February 22, 1921.  Jesus said to Saint Faustina, “My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy.” (Diary 699) And this she did.  It was not a quick process, but she trusted in Our Lord and in what He was asking of her and she never gave up.

If you have not had the opportunity to read about Saint Faustina, there is a wonderful biography out that was written by one of her Sisters.  It was very well done and a great introduction to Saint Faustina – before trying to read her entire Diary.

Jesus also told Saint Faustina that He wanted a feast established.  This is how He described it, “I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which grace flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even through its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the First Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy.” (Diary 699)

Let us take a moment to thank Saint Faustina for her humility and courage, for her great love for and trust in Our Lord ~what an example she is for each of us!

We would also like to introduce you to our Sister (not Saint) Faustina.  Sister is a convert to Catholicism, being received into the Church in 1999.  While knowing little of the Saints, a dear friend had introduced her to Saint Faustina early on and they have been linked together ever since.  Sister entered the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church on September 8, 2001; made her final profession on February 22, 2009; and continues to share God’s love and mercy with all those she is called to serve.  From the classroom to the nursing home, to your home computer screen, Sister Faustina serves wherever there is a need and is so very grateful for your continued support.  She knows that, “without each and every one of you, we could not do all that we do.  We need YOU!  Our Lord cannot be outdone in generosity, but never think that your contribution won’t make a difference, because it ALWAYS does.”  Thank you!
