SCMC Sheltering Families Fund

As Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church we provide stable living conditions for those who have been dealt a difficult hand in life at our Holy Family Home and Shelter (HFHS Community).

We are the only shelter in our area that will house families. That is what makes us unique and sets us apart. Keeping families intact while they are facing a difficult time is important to our organization.

Since 1989, 36 rooms have been used to provide shelter for more than 1600 people. Though some of these rooms are still being used, many are in great need of renovation before they can be used again. As we prepare for this great undertaking, we ask you to prayerfully consider joining the Sisters of Charity as we work to address the needs of our community’s most vulnerable members in keeping families together.

The Sisters are currently in need of:

2 Dormitory Renovations $10,000.00 each needed to replace the older beds with safer, more functionable ones
36 Room Renovations $2,000.00 needed for the safety of our Sisters
Shelter and Feed a family overnight $100.00 Sleep well knowing your donation is the reason another family is fed and sleeping well
Baby Care Basket $75.00 Sponsor a baby in need and provide diapers toiletries, and other basic needs
Sponsor an overnight stay $28.00 This is the average cost to house an individual in a homeless shelter per day
Feed a community member $15 Sponsor a day of meals for a community member

Our Families are in need of shelter ~ we have the space, but we need YOU!

Areas in need of renovation:

2 Dormitory Renovations $10,000.00 each Each dorm has 5 sections with only curtains for privacy.
After the renovations, these will become private rooms for our guests!
36 Room Renovations $2,000.00 each Being the only shelter in our area that accepts families, we are asking you and your family to prayerfully consider if, together, you can afford one of these rooms and provide shelter for countless families for years to come!

$28 is the average cost to house an individual for a day $75 can help a baby in need and provide diapers, toiletries, and other basic needs $100 may give peace of mind to an entire family because it can provide all of them with food and shelter for the night.

YOUR MOST GENEROUS GIFT OF ANY AMOUNT WILL HAVE LASTING AFFECTS ON THEIR LIVES!

If you and/or your family provide the funds for a full remodel of a room we will put up a special plaque in honor of your generous gift. These plaques can recognize:
  • the family who provided the funds for the room
  • in whose memory the room was renovated
  • or, a short message of hope for the future families that will stay there
 It is up to you!
