Helping Hands
Dear Friend,

“Many hands make light work.” I’m sure you’ve heard this expression. Perhaps you use it yourself when you want to encourage family or friends to work together to accomplish a task quickly and efficiently. This expression comes to mind when I think of how important YOU are to the Sisters of Charity. Your hands, joined to ours, not only make our work light, but you will impact lives in ways far more deeply than you will ever know. Here’s what some of the people whose lives have been impacted by the ministries of the Sisters of Charity have said:
“The Academy of the Holy Family is a school that provides both academic and life skills. Also, the Academy helps courageous students who have financial challenges to obtain a good education, regardless of the money their family can provide for tuition.” – Shekinah, a student from Rwanda
The Academy opened doors of opportunity and growth for Shekinah that she never thought possible in her native Rwanda. By the time you read this, she will be in college, beginning a program of Aerospace Engineering. Our ministry of education is an essential part of the mission of the Sisters of Charity.
“I was laid off from my job. Without this Food Pantry I don’t know how I would be able to feed my family.” – Sam, father of a family of 4.
We hear stories like this just about every week. So many folks fall through the cracks of the local social service agencies. Our Food Pantry helps fill the gap. The Sisters of Charity were founded to care for the poor.
“I am preparing to be a High School Math teacher. I am so grateful to our donors for helping to provide me with an excellent college education.” – Sister Alexandria.

Here are some of the reasons why we need your help:
- Many families and individuals in our local community face food insecurity each day. Your gift of $25.00 will provide one meal for a family of 4 who visits our Food Pantry.
- 75% of the students attending the Academy of the Holy Family need financial aid, many of them bright students like Shekinah. Your gift of $20.00 will provide one hour of tutoring for one of our students and gives the educational foundation she needs to achieve her full potential.
- Many single Moms, with their little ones, are faced not only with food insecurity but housing insecurity as well. Your gift of $15 will provide school supplies for one of these little ones in our Homeless Shelter.

YOUR helping hands assist us in caring for our elderly and infirm Sisters. You also make it possible for our young Sisters to receive the professional and spiritual formation they need to carry on the mission of the Sisters of Charity.
YOUR helping hands make our work light as we care for our treasured elderly in our healthcare facilities.
YOUR helping hands strengthen the faith and nurture the minds of the children in our schools, students like Shekinah.
Many hands do indeed make light work. Can you help us make our work light? Because of your goodness we will be able to help gifted students like Shekinah to make their mark in the world, put food on the table for needy families, prepare our young Sisters to carry on the mission of the Sisters of Charity and so much more.
Through your generosity, you will share in the lives and ministries of the Sisters of Charity in a most profound way. Those who have been part of the family of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church for even a short time, know how very dear our friends and benefactors are to us. My Sisters and I are deeply grateful to you for your caring goodness and generosity.
