Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday

Tonight, we enter the heart of the Triduum. Holy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper, the institution of the Eucharist, and Jesus washing the disciples’ feet.

  • Meaning: Holy Thursday has also been known as “Maundy Thursday” or “Commandment Thursday” (Maundy from mandatum, meaning “command”)—referring to Jesus’ command to love one another.
  • Scripture:
    • First Reading: Isaiah 61:1-3a, 6a, 8b-9
    • Second Reading: Revelation 1:5-8
    • Gospel: Luke 4:16-21

Take a moment to pause and reflect…

How am I called to love and serve others more deeply?

Can I receive Christ fully in the Eucharist—and become what I receive?
