All Saints and All Souls

Remembering Your Dearly Departed

As the month of November begins, the Church invites us into a beautiful time of remembrance, gratitude, and prayer. It is a time to reflect on the lives of those who have gone before us, to give thanks for the gift of their love, and to find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

On November 1, we celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints, honoring the countless holy men and women who now rejoice in the presence of God. Some are saints whose names and stories are known throughout the world, while others lived quiet, humble lives of extraordinary faith and love.

The saints remind us that holiness is not reserved for a select few. It is a calling for each of us, lived out through everyday acts of kindness, sacrifice, forgiveness, and service to others.

As we celebrate this beautiful feast, we may also find ourselves thinking of the people in our own lives who helped lead us closer to God. Perhaps it was a parent or grandparent who taught us our first prayers, a friend who offered encouragement during a difficult time, or someone whose quiet example of faith left a lasting impression on our hearts.

These are the people whose love and faith continue to shape our lives, even after they are no longer with us.

On November 2, we observe the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed, or All Souls’ Day. On this sacred day, and throughout the entire month of November, the Church calls us to remember and pray for all those who have died, entrusting their souls to the infinite mercy and love of God.

Our Catholic faith teaches us that the bonds of love do not end with death. Through the Communion of Saints, we remain united in Christ, and our prayers for the faithful departed are a beautiful expression of that enduring love.

For many of us, November brings memories of loved ones who are deeply missed. We remember their voices, their laughter, the traditions we shared, and the many ways they brought God’s love into our lives. While their absence may still bring sadness, our faith offers the comforting hope that death is not the end of our story.

“So high are my ways above your ways And my thoughts above your thoughts.”

LET US PRAY FOR YOU

During this special month of prayer and remembrance, the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady, Mother of the Church warmly invite you to share the names of your deceased loved ones.

Whether you are remembering a beloved parent, grandparent, spouse, sibling, child, friend, or someone else who holds a special place in your heart, we would be honored to join you in praying for them.

As we journey through this month of remembrance together, may we find encouragement in the example of the saints, consolation in the prayers of the Church, and renewed hope in Christ’s promise of everlasting life.

Please know that you and your loved ones remain close to the hearts of the Sisters. It is a blessing to be united with you in prayer, especially during this sacred season.

Let us join our hearts in the beautiful prayer of Eternal Rest:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

With Love and Gratitude,

Your Sisters of Charity
