The Crucifix

Praying Before the Crucifix

The most important and precious sign of our Faith, the crucifix, is the ultimate proof of Christ’s love for us.

The following prayers are traditionally prayed in the presence of a crucifix; however, they can be prayed anywhere.

Let us never forget His great Love and Mercy.

May the peace of Christ be with you.

Look down upon me, good and gentle Jesus,
while before Thy face I humbly kneel and,
with burning soul,
pray and beseech Thee
to fix deep in my heart lively sentiments
of faith, hope and charity;
true contrition for my sins,
and a firm purpose of amendment.
While I contemplate,
with great love and tender pity,
Thy five most precious wounds,
pondering over them within me
and calling to mind the words which David,
Thy prophet, said of Thee, my Jesus:
“They have pierced My hands and My feet,
they have numbered all My bones.”
Amen.

Pray one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be for the Holy Father’s intentions after praying Prayer before a Crucifix.

A Powerful Reminder of His Love and Mercy...

The practice of praying before a Crucifix is not new.  In fact, there are indulgences attached to this practice.

According to the Enchiridion of Indulgences, No. 22:

“A plenary indulgence is granted on each Friday of Lent and Passiontide to the faithful who, after Communion, piously recite the above prayer before an image of Christ crucified; on other days of the year the indulgence is partial.”

What a blessing that is ~ His Love and  Mercy never cease!

We wanted to find a way to share His great Love and Mercy with you.  So, we did send this 4″ wooden crucifix to many of you.  If you did not receive a crucifix, or would like to share one with someone you know, there are some more available for purchase here.
