General Chapter 2012

The General Chapter of the Sisters of Charity of Our Lady Mother of the Church began on July 5 with the opening Mass celebrated by Father Tito in the Motherhouse chapel. Bishop Perry, from Chicago, worked with our Congregation to prepare for this event. We thank him for his inspiration and support throughout this process.

We are ever grateful to Mother M. Anthony for her spiritual guidance of our Congregation for the past twelve years. On July 19th, Bishop Michael Cote, bishop of Norwich presided over the election of the new Superior General. We invoked the guidance of the Holy Spirit and Mother Marie Julie Saegaert was elected. Following this, the General Council members were elected; they are: Mother Mary David, Mother M. Anthony, Mother Mary Jude, and Mother M. Christina. We congratulate our new Superior General and her Council as they guide our Congregation into the future. May God bestow His choicest blessings on them.

    Dear Sisters,

Please pray for Jeff, Jill and Jim Watt. Jim is scheduled to have serious lung surgery and Jill has heart problems.

    Sincerely,

    Kasandra

I see a beautiful traditional altar in one photo of the sisters in the chapel (on your website). Do you assist at the Tridentine Mass or the Novus Ordo Mass? I am impressed by your order’s wearing of the habit – quite rare these days, as we know, so I am wondering which Mass is regularly offered for the sisters. Everything about your prayer life seems so wonderfully traditional – the Rosary, Benediction, meditation before the Blessed Sacrament, performing the Way of the Cross, daily spiritual reading, the Liturgy of the Hours chanted, etc. It would be a shame (and worse than that) if you aren’t assisting at “the most beautiful thing this side of Heaven” (Fr. Frederick Faber) – and that is the traditional Tridentine Mass. Thank you for your answer.

Thank you for your visit to our website and for your kind words about our Congregation. We are pleased to be committed to authentic Religious Life lived in fidelity in every way to the Magisterium of Holy Mother Church. Our daily celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass according to the Novus Ordo is the foundation of our prayer life and our apostolic endeavors. Any Priest who would request the privilege of celebrating the Tridentine Mass in our chapel would be warmly welcomed. We cherish the Sacred Liturgy as we assist at Holy Mass in either of the approved forms, and in our reverent celebration of the Divine Office. It would be our privilege to include in our prayers any intentions that you might have. For your part, please pray for us that we will continue to remain faithful to the beautiful vocation that we treasure as consecrated religious at the heart of the Church.
